Hi Alex, wasn't far away from Kunisaki this weekend, made it as far as USA, although I have the wife's family (aunt/uncle & cousins) to stay with there. 70km from Kitakyushu, a nice ride down on the bicycle on Saturday, not such a nice ride back today with the wind in my face! Definitely intend to do the Kunisaki area before too long, will wait til the weather gets a bit better! Best wishes, Rob.

Hi Rob, that's 70Km's with a lot of hard climbs!? Me, I grumble driving that far!

Well, today I took a pleasant trip along the coast up to the top of the peninsula. Uh hum, by car. Kunisaki-machi (town) up to Kunimi - it's really quite scenic. Probably even better with a little sun...

Hmmm, there's a bike-way from town that must take some interesting line out there, as I only noticed it appear along the seaward side after some driving. It looked quite broad and behind barriers, as I took in the sea views.

This link seems to be in your league, and describes some of that route too!

Usa is really nice btw, some good food places we like, and Usa jingu - stunning! Tell me next time you're in town, I'm guessing you eat! A lot ;-)

Hi Alex, it's a fairly gentle run down to Usa, no climbs at all really, made harder yesterday on the return journey by the constant wind and noticeable drop in temperature! All the relatives in Usa were telling me how nice and scenic the Kunisaki area is,so will make it out your way sooner rather than later I guess, so will let you know. Agree with your comment about Usa jingu, have been there many times and never get tired of going again. Called in at Nakatsu castle on the way home yesterday, quite small but worth a look and a couple of photos.
Cheers for now, Rob.
